Please read the notes on this page which are frequently updated to say what work I’m accepting.
I am located in Ottawa, Canada. I work from home by appointment only.
April 2026 update:
Accepting smaller jobs, waitlist for overhauls CLOSED until July for catchup.
Accepting without waitlist: Most turntables, speakers, some basic amps/receivers from later 80s-90s.
Waitlist:
I waitlist recap/overhaul jobs. This is the only level of service I offer for vintage 1970s amps and receivers. For details on what this service entails, and an explanation of why it is the only level of service I offer on this equipment, click HERE.
I was telling people to periodically check but but I’m just going to promise to open the list in July to make things easy for everyone.
Progress: I’m currently working on overhauls added to the list in July. There are 35 units on the list. This statement will be regularly updated.
Prices are increasing. Not only does everything cost more these days, but the amount of work I put into overhauls is increasing too. The level of attention to detail I put into this takes a lot of time. I’m not just swapping parts, I’m carefully going over your entire unit with a fine toothed comb. This is my full time job, I have to price jobs properly to keep this viable.
In general monster receivers (Sansui 9090db, Pioneer SX-1250) are around $1000 plus tax. Mid-level units (Marantz 2245, Sansui AU-717) in the 600-800 range, More basic units in the 400-500 range, and super basic units 250-350. There can be exceptions as some lower end units are harder to work on and some higher end units are very easy to work on. Parts costs vary significantly too. The price of large filter capacitors is extremely variable. I quote individual units before proceeding.
As long as I have a workbench and am able to use it, I will service gear I’ve previously overhauled at any point without waitlisting. I will also always be willing to revisit gear I’ve recently serviced without wait.
I DO NOT service: Home theatre receivers, furniture style console units, antique radios, tape decks, reel to reel, very early solid state, anything discussed HERE
